Friday Update

Good morning everyone, it’s Friday!!! I was looking over our travel calendar this morning, Joey and I will be traveling to Brooklyn New York over the Labor Day holiday to celebrate the Caribbean parade that is held each year. It is a huge event and we had a great time last year. We will also be heading back to Barbados around the 13th to cover the big Caribbean Tourism Organizations annual get together. Checking the weather this morning, it looks like it will be another busy day in the weather center. Tropical Storm Gaston is in the Atlantic. This storm is located about 1030 miles E-NE of the Leeward Islands with winds of 65 mph and moving to the NW at about 17 mph. There are no coastal watches or warnings with this storm. Gaston could become a hurricane again tonight or Saturday. We are also watching a weak area of low pressure currently stretching from eastern Cuba to the Bahamas. This system is putting down showers and thunderstorms. We will continue to watch it as it moves W-NW at about 10 mph over the weekend. This system has potential to cause flash flooding and mud slides over the next several days. This same system could eventually bring rain to Florida in the US. Finally, we have Tropical Storm Lester in the Pacific. Lester is about 510 miles SW of the southern tip of Baja, California with winds of 60 mph and moving to the west at about 7 mph. There are no coastal watches or warnings with this storm. Lester could become a hurricane tonight or Saturday. Well, that’s all for now, have a great weekend everyone and don’t forget complete storm updates and forecasts are always available on One Caribbean Television.
