Monday Update

Good morning everyone, Bob The Parrot here, hope you all had a very nice weekend. Checking the weather maps this morning, looks like it could be a busy day in the weather center. First off we have Tropical Depression Fiona located about 525 miles northeast of the Northern Leeward Islands with winds of 35 mph and moving to the W-NW at approximately 18 mph. There are no coastal watches or warnings with this storm. Also in the Atlantic we have a Tropical Wave located about 900 miles east of the Lesser Antillies, this could influence Hispaniola and the southeast and central Bahamas over the next couple days. Finally in the Atlantic we have a Tropical Wave and large low pressure system located about 300 miles south of the southern Cabo Verde Islands. This could well become a Tropical Depression later today. Over on the Pacific side we are monitoring one storm. Tropical Storm Kay is 430 miles west of the southern tip of Baja, California with winds of 50 mph and moving to the W-NW at about 8 mph. There are no coastal watches or warnings with this storm and it seems to be weakening. In news, the big story from the Olympics this past weekend, Usain Bolt won his third gold medal as he anchored the men’s 4×100 relay team. Congratulations to all the Caribbean athletes who performed in the Olympics whether you won a medal or not. Well, time to head out, have a great day everyone and keep checking back with us.
