Tuesday Thoughts

Good morning everyone, we hope that your day is off to a good start. In case you haven’t looked at the calendar, today is the last day of May. Checking the weather maps this morning, Sun Tropical storm Bonnie is fading off the coast of South Carolina in the US. The storm is still providing rain to the region. Right now there are no other storms of concern. Across the Caribbean tonight we can expect more showers and occasional thunderstorms. In the news, the official start of the Atlantic hurricane season is tomorrow June 1st. According to the agencies that predict such things, this coming hurricane season should be very active with forecast increased rainfall and more flash flooding over the next six months. Predictions are for 10-16 named storms, 408 hurricanes and 1-4 intense storms. Remember, you can get complete forecasts and storm coverage on One Caribbean Television. If you are not currently receiving the station, call your local cable provider and ask them if they might add the station to your lineup. We, that’s all for now. Monday Thoughts

Good morning everyone, hope you all had a great weekend. Also we would like to wish a very happy memorial day to the folks in the US and their territories. Memorial Day is honored each year to remember the men and women who died defending the US in the military. Checking the weather maps this Monday, Tropical Depression Bonnie (second named storm of season) is located about 30 miles north-northeast of Charleston, South Carolina with winds of 30 mph and is moving slowly to the northeast at about 3 mph. There are no coastal watches or warnings at this time. Heavy rains are expected for the Carolinas for the next couple days. Well, that’s all for now, have a great day everyone. Friday Updates

Good morning everyone, welcome to Friday and the beginning of another weekend! To those folks in the US and territories of the US happy Memorial Day weekend. Checking your weather maps this morning, we are watching a number of showers associated with a low pressure system between Bermuda and the Bahamas. This system is showing signs of organization and could take on tropical or subtropical cyclone features later today or Saturday. We should see some movement to the west or northwest which means it should effect the southeastern portion of the US. We will continue to monitor this system throughout the weekend. Complete forecast details and updates will be available on One Caribbean Television. In the news today, as of July 4th, Insel Air will connect Guyana and Brazil after a five year void of no direct air service between the two countries. In other news, Expedia, one of the world’s largest travel information companies, reported travel demand to Antigua and Barbuda grew 35% in 2015. Thursday Thoughts

Good morning everyone, hope your Thursday is going well and thanks for checking back with us. Just a couple reminders, if you have youngsters in the house, don’t forget to remind them to join Joey and I on the Sunshine Fun Club seen every Saturday and Sunday on One Caribbean Television. This brings me to the second reminder, if you are not currently receiving One Caribbean Television, contact your local cable provider and ask them if they would add it to your lineup. Checking the weather maps this morning, a broad area of clouds and showers is located over the western Atlantic a few hundred miles northeast of the Bahamas. These are associated with a newly formed low pressure system. We are looking for more development on Friday and Saturday as the system moves north to northwest and should be influencing the southeast US this weekend. We will continue to monitor this storm. In the news today, congratulations to both Granada and Barbados who both won gold at the annual Chelsea Flower Show in London, England. This is a very prestigious event. Also congratulations to Jamaica’s Chaunte Blackwood who has advanced to the finals today in the Scripps Spelling Bee. Well, that’s it for today, have a good one and keep checking back with us.

Good morning everyone, it’s hump day!! A few things to talk about today, first checking the weather maps this morning we find an area of thunderstorms in the western Atlantic near and northeast of the Bahamas. These storms are associated with a upper level trough and remains of a cold front. We could see some development of this system by Friday. The storms will move W-NW or NW and influence the SE US over the next couple days. In the news, congratulations to Barbados resident Rihanna the pop music star who was presented with the billboard achievement award at their recent ceremony. Tuesday Thoughts and Updates

Good morning everyone, hope your Tuesday is off to a good start. Checking the weather maps this morning there are no developing storms to talk about. There appear to be som pretty good thunderstorms moving across eastern Cuba into the Turks and Caicos Islands and portions of the Bahamas. In the news today, a couple of interesting stories. Jamaica Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett says they are addressing the problem of tourists being pursued by merchants at the crew ship dock in Ocho Rios. Apparently merchants have become so aggressive trying to make a sale that many tourists are not even getting off the ships when they dock. In other news, Venezuela Pres Nicolas Maduro recently said in Kingstown, Jamaica that despite facing severe economic challenges, his government will continue to honor their arrangement with the region under the PetroCarib agreement. Good morning everyone, we hope you had a good weekend. Checking the weather maps this morning, there are no storms developing. Checking the calendar, we are about 8 days from the official start of the Atlantic hurricane season. In the news today, a couple of stories of interest to the region. Delta Airlines has announced that they will provide a daily flight from Atlanta to St Croix for three weeks during the peak Christmas holiday this season. St Lucia will be voting for a new government on June 6th, this will be a year earlier then mandated. The vote has been called for by Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony. A couple stories making news in the Caribbean today, St Lucia Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony has called for a general election June 6th, several months ahead of the due date. Also it was just announced today that Venezuela President Nicholas Madura will visit Trinidad on Monday of next week to talk with Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell. Good morning everyone, hope your Thursday is going well, this week seems like it has moved by quickly. Checking the weather maps this morning, there are no developing storms to talk about. Looking at the calendar, we are only a couple weeks away from the official start of the Atlantic hurricane season. Checking the news today there is one story that caught my eye, a report from Texas in the US says they may be ready to test a vaccine for the Zika virus in September. As you know Zika is especially harmful to pregnate women often times causing babies to be born with abnormally small heads and underdeveloped brains. Wednesday Update

Good morning and happy hump day everyone. Checking the weather maps this morning there are no developing storms of concern. Numerous showers and thunderstorms are sitting off the eastern coast of the US and are influencing the northern Bahamas. There are also some thunderstorms in southern central America again today. In the news, it’s now official, Cable and Wireless Communications which operates as Flow in the region has been taken over by international cable television giant Liberty Cable. The acquisition price was believed to be around US 7.4 billion. More problems in Venezuela as President Nicholas Maduro is trying to keep the country afloat among numerous problems and shortages. Finally, the fastest man in the world Usain Bolt tweeked has hamstring in a recent race, he is expected to recover, Bolt has his eye on the August Olympics in Brazil which he has said will be his last.
