Thursday Thoughts

March 31, 2016

Good morning everyone, hope all is well on this Thursday. I am looking at the weather maps this morning and there is some activity out over the Atlantic however it does not look like it will be any threat to the Caribbean. Other than that just the usual scattered showers for most of you tonight. I was looking at the map this morning and for the first time it struck me how big the island of Cuba is compared to the rest of the Caribbean, I always thought The Dominican Republic was big, but compared to Cuba it’s not, and yet when I am on most of the islands they seem fairly big to me. I imagine when you live there it tends to shrink in size fairly quickly because after all it is an island. We hope that things will settle down somewhat in Haiti now that they have a new Prime Minister and 16 member cabinet, the wonderful people who live there deserve some peace and quiet and someone who will really look out for their well being. In the news reps from the Caribbean and Central America recently met in Washington to discuss the financial situation in that region. A mother has filed a suit against Royal Caribbean cruise lines to add lifeguards for their pools since her toddler almost drowned recently on a cruise. Right now only one cruise line offers life guards for their pools. Well, that’s all for now, have a great day everyone and keep checking back.

Wednesday Update

March 30, 2016

Good morning and happy hump day everyone! Checking the weather maps this morning, it looks like there might be a few showers and thunderstorms in the northern Bahamas but no major storms to report on today. Although it is beginning to wind down, the crew ship season in the Caribbean looks like it was very good this past season, wherever Joey and I went this past year we saw ships docked, many times more than one at a time. We actually saw five ships docked in one day while in San Juan Puerto Rico. In the news, Haiti has a new Prime Minister and a new 16 member cabinet. The Bahamas are seeing more electric cars which is not only good for the environment but also the wallet. The former Jamaican beauty queen/flight attendant who was caught smuggling cocaine is still in jail dispite posting bail. Well that’s all for now, have a great day everyone.

March 29, 2016

Good morning everyone, hope your Tuesday is off to a good start. Checking the weather maps for you this morning, there are no developing storms that we can see. Don’t forget, the official start to the Atlantic hurricane season will be June 1st. In the news, Brazil is busily preparing for the Olympics coming up this summer. The island of St Thomas is preparing for their annual carnival coming up in April. Fidel Castro had some harsh words in an open letter concerning president Obamas recent visit to Cuba. Well, that’s all for now, have a great day and keep checking back with us.

Good morning everyone, hope you had a great weekend and a blessed Easter. It is great to be back with you, Joey and I were away on vacation and also spent a week in St Kits and Nevis, it was our first time on the islands and we had a wonderful time and would like to thank the people for making our visit so memorable. Checking the weather maps this morning there are no developing storms to be concerned with. In the news, Cuba was the place to be this past weekend as the World Famous Rolling Stones (one of my favorite bands) performed on the island for the first time in history. Well that’s all for now, it is great to back with you all.

Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday, the first day of march. Only 16 days until St Patrick’s Day and the whole world turns Irish!! Today is a big day politically in the US, it’s called Super Tuesday and a number of states will be voting for their nominees for the presidential election coming up in November. Checking the weather maps today we don’t see any developing storms out there. Joey and I are busy preparing for our trip, as I told you yesterday we are leaving on Thursday. In the news, Cuba is having their annual cigar festival. The festival draws buyers from all over the world. Jamaica elections are close enough that they might have a recount and Trinidad and Tobago’s Olympic committee is planning to take home at least 10 medals in the 2024 Olympics. People of Haiti have taken to the streets to celebrate the cough of 2004. Well, that’s all for now, have a great day everyone.
