Friday Update

January 29, 2016

Good morning and T.G.I.F. Well, we are on the doorstep of another weekend and if you have looked at the calendar, the last weekend in January. Joey and I certainly enjoy the time we spend with you, but it does seem to fly by quickly. Checking the weather maps today there are no developing storms that should concern us heading into the weekend. A lot of you will be going out on this Friday night so keep an eye to the sky and take an umbrella if you have any concerns. Looking forward to February, Joey and I should be traveling to Curacao to cover carnival for Carnival Week on One Caribbean Television Feb 5-9th from 8-10pm nightly. We always enjoy going to Curacao, we have been there many times and have a lot of friends there. Well, that’s all for now, have yourself a great weekend and keep checking back with us. Thursday Thoughts

Good morning, hope this Thursday is starting off well for you, thanks for checking back with us. Checking the weather maps this morning, we don’t see any developing storms or weather that should cause you too many problems. The Pacific side seems to have some unsettled weather but no major storms. That big Caribbean Cable Conference is continuing in San Juan Puerto Rico this week, our sources tell us it has been very interesting and a big success. Many of the Caribbean islands are preparing for their annual carnivals, Easter comes early this year in March. In other news a man names Dave Benjamin has been arrested by Granada police and charged with the murder of an American tourist on the island. It was reported that Benjamin had recently been released from prison. A strange story out of Puerto Rico where police are looking for a man who passed himself off as a doctor and killed a young patient in a west coast hospital. It’s hump day!! Hello everyone and thanks for checking back with us today. Checking the weather maps this morning, we don’t see any major storms or anything that looks like it is trying to develop. In the news, officials in Granada are looking for a motive for the killing of a Georgia woman by a sword yielding man, police have a suspect in custody. More travel alerts have been issued for the zika virus in The Dominican Republic and the US Virgin Islands, these islands have been added to a list of other countries where the virus carried by mosquitos have been detected. Tuesday Thoughts

Good morning everyone, hope your Tuesday is off to a good start. Joey and I are a little tired today, stayed up late watching a basketball game on tv. Checking the weather maps this morning, nothing of concern to report, again today we will find scattered showers around the Caribbean. While I am thinking of it, I want to remind you of Carnival Week on One Caribbean television. This annual event will be held Feb 5-9th from 8-10pm nightly. You can enjoy all the excitement and pageantry of carnival right from your couch. In the news, they are investigating the death of an American tourist while in Granada when attacked by a man with a sword, police have a suspect in custody. Congratulations to Jamaica for being voted the best place in the Caribbean to do business. To their surprise, Trinidad was voted near the bottom in economic growth. Good morning everyone, hope you had a good weekend. Checking the weather maps this morning there are no major storms of concern and for the most part only some scattered showers to deal with tonight in most areas. From the” it can always be worse dept,” that major storm that was forecast hit the eastern coast of the US bringing a lot of snow over the weekend, many places will be digging out all week. Much of the air travel that was shut down over the weekend is getting back to normal. In the news, the Caribbean Cable Conference is set for San Juan Puerto Rico this week. In sports, the big Super Bowl game to be played Feb 7th will feature the Denver Broncos and Payton Manning against the Carolina panthers and Cam Newton, odds makes have Carolina the favorite as of today. Good morning everyone, Friday is finally here and we are getting ready for the weekend. Big story out of the US where the East coast is preparing for a major winter storm that could bring one to two feet of snow to some areas that don’t traditionally see that much. Checking the weather for the Caribbean this morning there are no storms out there and we don’t see anything that will cause you concern over the weekend. In the news, San Juan Puerto Rico will host the Caribbean Cable Operators Conference next week. This is a chance for cable systems to give a state of the industry and see some of the newest technology available. Well, that’s all for now, have a great weekend everyone and keep checking back. Good morning everyone, today is Thursday and we are inching our way towards another weekend. Checking the weather maps this morning we are in good shape, there are no developing storms of concern. In the news 18 countries in central America and the Caribbean are reporting cases of the zika virus carried by mosquitos .Pregnate women have been encouraged not to travel to these countries. Recent DNA tests prove once for all that Jamacian musician Fabian Marley is not the son of legend Bob Marley as he has claimed for years. Tuesday Thoughts and Updates

Good morning everyone, hope your Tuesday is off to a good start. I was looking at some scenes from the United States around the great lakes where they had quite a bit of snow over the past several days, some areas got 1-2 feet of snow!!! Really makes you appreciate the beauty and warmth of the Caribbean doesn’t it. Checking the weather maps for the Caribbean we see no storms developing today. That late season storm near the Azores last week shows that something can develop and that’s why we are constantly on the lookout. In the news today, The big Cable Operators Conference that is held every year will be in San Juan Puerto Rico next week. Joey and I have been to this in the past, it is always a good time and very informative. We are also gearing up for another Carnival Week on One Caribbean Television, I believe coverage this year will be Feb 5-9th from 8-10pm. The Governor of Puerto Rico is saying there will be a humanitarian crisis on the island if the US Congress doesn’t step in and help the island that cannot pay its bills. Unrest and some violence in Haiti which is 5 days away from their Presidential elections. Well, that’s all for now, have a great day and keep checking back.

In the news, today is Martin Luther King Day in the US, a national day of honor for Dr. King. The Zika virus continues to concern health officials in the Caribbean where a travel warning has been issued for pregnate women. Massive waves off Havana Cuba overran the sea walls and flooded the streets on Sunday evening, some people had to be rescued from the high water.
