Wednesday Update

September 23, 2015

Good morning everyone, hope your Wednesday is going well. Just a reminder that Joey and I will be taking some time off beginning tomorrow and will be gone all next week. Checking the weather maps this morning, we find scattered showers and thunderstorms across the Caribbean. On the storm front, Tropical Storm Ida continues to be active in the Atlantic. This storm is approximately 1045 miles eats of the northern leeward idlands with winds of 40 mph and is moving to the south at 2 mph. There are no watches or warnings with this storm. In the news, Pope Francis is now in the United States. This is his first visit to the US. He will visit Washington, New York and Philadelphia. A little set back for Dominica as a Tropical Wave moved across the island earlier this week. Dominica is trying to recover from the damage caused by Tropical Storm Erika several weeks ago. Tuesday Update

Good morning everyone, hope your day is going well. Checking the weather maps this morning, oops I just spilled my coffee on the map, oh well I can still read it…..Tropical Storm Ida is located approximately 1555 miles E-NE of the Northern Leeward Islands with winds of 45 mph and is moving to the E-SE at 5 mph. This storm has changed direction and I should mention there are no watches or warnings in effect with this storm. In the news, Pope Francis is ending his historic visit to Cuba and will be headed to the United States. Seaborn Airlines has announced that they will resume flight to Dominica, flights were halted after Tropical Storm Erika hit the island. Monday Update

Good morning everyone, hope your Monday is going well and we hope you had a good weekend. In the weather dept this morning there are two areas that we are watching. First we have Tropical Storm Ida located approximately 1035 miles east of the Northern Leeward Islands with winds of 50 mph and moving to the N-NW at 8 mph. There are currently no watches or warnings with this storm. We also have Tropical Depression 16-E moving inland over the central Baja, California peninsula. This system is bringing some heavy rains to Northeast Mexico. In the news, the Pope Francis continues to spread his message to record crows on the island of Cuba .Next stop for the Pope will be the United States. Officials in Dominica are reporting a large number of people with the stomach flu after the recent storm damage to the island from Tropical Storm Erika. A big drug bust of eleven million dollars worth of cocaine recently off the coast of Florida. Just a reminder that Joey and I will be gone this Thursday through next week for some personal business. Friday Update

Good morning and T.G.I.F. everyone!! It is good to be back, Joey and I were in Louisville Kentucky for the annual International Boatbuilders Exebition. We had a great time and learned some information we will be passing along to our viewers in the Caribbean who own boats. In the weather, we have a Tropical Depression #9 about 1045 East of the Lesser Antillies with winds of 30 mph and moving N-NW at 7 mph. There are no watches or warnings with this system and it is forecast to weaken to a remnant low later today.We are also watching a low pressure located about 800 miles W-SW of the Cape Verde Islands that is showing signs of organizing and is favorable for development as it moves W-NW 10-15 mph. In the news, Cuba is busy preparing for the Pope’s visit tomorrow, the Pope released a video for the people of Cuba ahead of his visit telling them the God loves them.Well that’s all for now, have a great weekend everyone, it is great to be back with you.

Good morning everyone, happy Friday. Checking the weather maps this morning there are a good number of showers and thunderstorms around the Caribbean tonight so it might be a good idea to take your umbrella if you are going to venture out. We are still watching one storm, howeve, there is no threat to the Caribbean. Tropical Storm Henri is located about 370 miles NE of Bermuda with winds of 40 mph and is moving to the north at 16 mph. There are no watches or warnings issued with this storm and it is expected to become a post tropical storm on Saturday. Just a reminder that Joey and I will be traveling to Louisville kentucky next week for the International Boat Show. In the news, Jack Warner has stepped down as leader of the party he founded in Trinidad and Tobago. In sports, the NFL kicked off their season last night with defending Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers 28-21. A group from Jamaica is visiting Erie, Pa to explore bio diesel fuel for their island. Well that’s all for now, have a great weekend everyone.

Thursday Thoughts and Updates

Good morning everyone, hope your Thursday is going well so far. Checking the weather maps this morning, we are watching two unsettled areas. Tropical Storm Henri is located about 230 miles E-SE of Bermuda with winds of 40 mph and is moving to the north at 3 mph. There are no watches or warnings with this storm currently and it is expected to pass well east of Bermuda today. Over in the Pacific, Tropical Storm Linda is expected to become a Tropical Depression later today, this storm has no watches or warnings In the news, a correction from yesterday, we identified Trinidad and Tobago’s new Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley as Riley, we apologise. Puerto Rico will be making some wide ranging spending cuts to deal with their financial crisis, some of these moves will include consolidating some schools. Just a reminder, Joey and I will be traveling to Louisville Kentucky next week to attend the International Boat Show and we will be putting together some reports for the boaters of the Caribbean. Wednesday Notes and Updates

Good morning and happy hump day everyone. Well. Joey and I made it back from New York City where we were covering the West Indian American Day Carnival. It was an amazing parade that was viewed by several million people. It was great to see all the people of Caribbean heritage wearing their country’s colors and showing their support. Our hats off to the committee who organized all the activities, you did a great job! Checking the weather today we are watching several areas, we have a Tropical Depression #8 located 220 miles E-SE of Bermuda with winds of 35 mph and is currently stationary, this storm is expected to move north later today. There are no watches or warnings with this system. We have another Tropical Depression named Grace locates approximately 945 miles east of the Lesser Antillies with winds of 30 mph and is moving west at 17 mph. There are no watches or warnings with this storm. Over in the Pacific we have Hurricane Linda located about 405 miles west of the southern tip of Baja, California with winds of 100 mph and moving west at 12 mph. There are no watches or warnings with this storm. In the news, relief continues to pour into Dominica for their storm damage several weeks ago, the Caymen Islands have donated a half million dollars to the effort. A number of countries are stepping up to help. Some 30 people lost their lives in that storm. Dr Keith Riley is the new prime minister of Trinidad and Tobago. Church goers in Cuba are getting ready to greet the Pope when he visits their country Sept 19th. It’s now official, Queen Elizabeth is the longest reining monarch in English historm. as she passed her great great grandmother Queen Victoria for the honor. Good morning and happy Friday everyone. Joey and I are getting ready to fly to New York this weekend for the big Caribbean Parade in Brooklyn this Monday. We will file some reports and put together a feature on the event for One Caribbean Television. Checking out the weather today, Tropical Storm Fred is in the Atlantic, located about 960 miles W-NW of the Cape Verde Islands with winds of 40 mph and moving to the West at about 10 mph. There are no watches or warnings with this storm and we expect it to decrease to a remnant low either tonight or tomorrow. Over in the pacific we have Tropical Storm Kevin, located about 420 miles W-SW of the Southern tip of Baja, California with winds of 60 mph and moving to the North at 13 mph. There are no watches or warnings associated with this storm and we expect it to decrease to a Tropical Depression on Saturday. One more thing I want to mention, we are watching a Tropical Wave that has formed off the western coast of Africa that is producing a large area of showers and thunderstorms. This system has the potential to develop into something stronger over the next several days so it is worth watching. In the news, two US Presidential candidates are visiting Puerto Rico, Hillary Clinton and Marco Rubio are seeking support for their individual campaigns. It is a national day of morning on the island of Dominica, pausing to reflect on the deaths and damage caused by Tropical Storm Erika last weekend. This storm could set the island back some 20 years. Good morning everyone, hope your Thursday is going well, I don’t know about you but I am looking forward to the weekend!!! Checking our weather maps this morning we have two storm that we have our eye on but to be honest we don’t think either one will be a threat to anyone. In the Atlantic we find tropical Storm Fred located approximately 690 miles W-NW of the Cape Verde islands with winds of 45 mph and moving to the W-NW at about 8 mph. There are no watches or warnings with this storm and the thinking is that it will be a Tropical Depression by Friday afternoon and a post tropical low by Friday night. Over in the pacific Tropical Storm Kevin is located 510 miles SW of the southern tip of Baja, California with winds of 40 mph and is moving to the North at 6 mph. There are no watches or warnings issued with this storm either. In the news, members from the world bank are in Dominica to access damage from Tropical Storm Erika. Two escaped prisoners from Trinidad are still on the loose. A arrest warrant has been issued for Guatamala’s President because of a scandal in that country. Good morning everyone, happy hump day Wednesday!! Checking the weather maps this moening, Tropical Storm Fred is loosing some strength out in the Atlantic. Fred is currently 470 miles W-NW of the Cape Verde Islands with winds of 45 mph and is moving to the W-NW at 10 mph. There are no watches or warnings currently with this storm. Meanwhile over on the Pacific side we have tropical Depression 14-E located approximately 630 miles S-SW of the Southern tip of Baja, California with winds of 35 mph and moving to the N-NW at 10 mph. There are no watches or warnings currently with this storm. We will continue to monitor both these storms and report back to you. In the news, don’t forget that Joey and I will be in Brooklyn New York next Monday for the annual Caribbean parade, we will be filing a report on One Caribbean Television. Dominica continues to dig out after 15 inches of rain and many mud slides, members of the Caribbean community are trying to help the island recover.
