Friday Update

May 29, 2015

Good morning everyone and happy T.G.I.F. I don’t know about you, but this week went by rather quickly for me. Checking on the weather maps today we have Tropical Storm Andres located approximately 795 miles SSW of the southern tip of Baja, California with winds of 70 mph and is moving to the W-NW at 9 mph. There are no watches or warnings issued with this system. This storm could become a hurricane by tonight. In the news, Chinese made motor bikes are becoming a problem on the island of Haiti, they are causing a safety problem according to reports. There are 500,000 bikes alone in the city of Port Ah Prince. Saturday marks 10 years since the disappearance of Nancy Holloway in Aruba. Her dad continues to follow up leads in hopes of eventually finding out what happened to her.Apparently a new witness has come forward and says he knows where she is buried, stayed tuned for more on this storm. Thursday Updates

Good morning everyone, hope your Thursday is going well. Checking the weather maps this morning we have our first Tropical Depression of the Eastern Pacific Hurricane Season. Tropical Depression E-One is located about 1105 miles SW of Manzanillo Mexico with winds of 36 mph and moving W-NW at 15 mph, there are no coastal watches or warnings at this time. In the news, NOAA has released it’s hurricane predictions for 2015, they are calling the upcoming season that officially begins June 1st for the Atlantic region a below average season. They are predicting 6-11 named storms, of those, 3-6 could become hurricanes and of those, 0-2 could become major hurricanes. In othe news FIFA football scandal continues in the news, Jack Warner of Trinidad and Tobago, a former Vice pres of the organization was arrested but has been released on bond. Jeffrey Webb from the Cayman Islands has also been arrested. Fallout has already begun with major sponsors of the World Cup threatening to pull their support if the mess is not cleaned up. Good morning everyone and happy hump day. Checking the weather maps there is a broad area of low pressure several hundred miles south of the coast of Mexico with disorganized showers and thunderstorms. This system could develop into a Tropical Depression over the next several days. In the news, big news from the football world where 14 members of FIFA have been arrested for corruption and rackateering including two members from the Caribbean. In other news Jet Blue and Seaborne Airlines have reached an agreement to work together on marketing to promote flights into the Caribbean with expanded flights from both airlines. Usain Bolt won his recent race as he prepares for the next Olympics. Earnest Hemiways grandsons recently took part in a big billfish fishing tourney in Cuba, the tournament was started by their grandfather. Tuesday Thoughts

Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday. Checking your weather maps this morning, we are watching an area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms located several hundred miles south of the Mexican coast associated with a tropical low pressure. This system could develop into a tropical depression later in the week. In the news, new Guyana President David Granger will pardon about 60 youth today who were convicted of non violent crimes, he says these kids belong in school, not jail. Northern Mexico continues to dig out after a giant tornado moved across the area yesterday morning. Cuba is starting to see more American visitors now that the two nations have eased restrictions, travel to the island is still limited however. Southwest airlines has an interesting program where they are taking old airplane seats and using the material to make sandals, bags and soccer balls for people in Africa. Monday Update

Good morning everyone, hope you all had a nice weekend and a Happy Memorial Day as we pay tribute and remember the soldiers who fought and died for the US and it’s territories. Checking the weather maps this morning the only thing we see worth watching is a low pressure in the Pacific that has alot of disorganized showers and clouds with it. Good morning everyone and T.G.I.F. we hope your upcoming weekend is going to be a good one. Checking the weather maps this morning there are a couple things we are watching in the Pacific. There is a tropical wave with a large area of disorganized clouds and thunderstorms about 1360 miles SW of the southern tip of Baja, California. This system could become better organized over the weekend as it moves to the W-NW. The other system we are watching is an elongated low pressure about 2000 miles SW of the southern tip of Baja, California that could develop over the next several days as it moves slowly to the NW. This second storm could fall apart or be incorporated into the first storm also. In the news Barbados star Rhianna is in a legal battle with a comic book maker, she wants to use her legal name Robin and they are saying it is too much like the character Robin in the Batman series, this will be interesting to see how it plays out in the courts. The Caribbean Tourism Organization will be sponsoring Caribbean Week in New York City the first week in June, alot of great programs are planned. Good morning everyone, hope your Thursday is going well. Checking the weather maps this morning we are watching a tropical wave located several hundred miles S-SW of the southern tip of Baja, California. This system is causing a large disorganized area of clouds and showers and has the potential to develop into something more organized by the weekend. We will continue to monitor this system for you. In the news, Trinidad is looking at ways to improve building and planning for earthquake potential. Cuba and the US are working together on some cancer research. Granada had a new promotion called Granada Girls Getaway as they reach out to attracting more women to the island as tourists. Curacao is planning a Latin Festival with various Latin musical artists. Good morning everyone and happy “hump” day!! Checking the weather maps this morning there are no developing storm to be concerned with. In the news, congratulations to Barbados who captured a top prize in the international flower show recently. David Granger is the new President of Guyana.Mr Granger will be the 8th President of that country. A crew ship got stuck off the coast of Bermuda recently, just another in a list of problems for crew ships over the past several years. Good morning everyone, hope your Tuesday is off to a good start. I was just checking the weather maps and there are no developing storms today. There are numerous scattered showers and some thunderstorms around the Caribbean and as usual you can get complete weather coverage and updates on One Caribbean Television. If you currently don’t get the station, call your cable provider and ask them if they might add it to your lineup. In the news, problems in Guyana where there are allogations of voter fraud in the latest election. A report from Trinidad and Tobago that says the islands econony is in pretty good shape. In the US two lawmakers are trying to get a lisence plate to commerate the Jamaica bobsled team. Well that’s all for now, have a great day everyone.

Good morning and happy Monday everyone, we hope you had a very nice weekend. Checking the weather maps this morning, there are no developing storms to report on. June 1st will be the official start to the Atlantic hurricane season. In the news, the colera epidemic in Haiti continues according to UN spokesman. It’s been 50 years in the making but there will be a sailing race from the keys to Cuba. It is called the havana challenge. In sports, the Houston Rockets defeated the Los Angeles Clippers yesterday after being down 3-1 in that series. Well that’s all for this Monday, have a great day everyone.
