Thursday Thoughts and Updates

August 28, 2014

Good morning everyone, Bob The parrot here on this beautiful Thursday. Don’t forget joey and I will be off beginning tomorrow for a week as we take some vacation time. Tomorrow and Saturday will be the big North Sea Jazz Festival on the island of Curacao. This has turned into one of the biggest and best jazz concerts in the Caribbean. Checking the weather today, Hurricane Christobal has moved past Bermuda, the storm still has winds of 75 mph and is moving quickly to the Northeast at 26 mph. Christobal is producing swells affecting the US coast from North Carolina to new England. Down in the Caribbean we are watching a Tropical Wave in the Eastern Caribbean Sea that is producing disorganized clouds and showers, this has the potential to develop into something more over the next couple days. Well that’s all for now, have a great day and we will see you all when we get back from vacation. GONE FISHING…..

Wednesday Updates

August 27, 2014

Good morning everyone and Happy Hump Day!! This week seems to be going by rather quickly. The Curacao North Sea Jazz Festival takes place this Friday and Saturday if you are in the area. Checking the weather scene this morning, Hurricane Cristobal is passing well West of Bermuda. This storm is located about 425 miles West of Bermuda with winds of 80 mph and moving North at about 12 mph. There is currently a Tropical Storm Watch for Bermuda. This storm is expected to produce rainfall of 1-2 inches today for the island. We are also watching a Tropical Wave currently 600 miles East of the Lesser Antillies with disorganized showers and clouds, this could develop into something more next week as it makes it way into the Western Caribbean Sea or The Southern Gulf of Mexico. Over in the Pacific even though Hurricane Marie is well out to sea , it continues to provide big surf along California and Mexico. Well that’s all for now. By the way, Joey and I will be off Friday and next week for some vacation time.

Tuesday Thoughts

August 26, 2014

Good morning everyone, we hope your Tuesday is going well. Hurricane Marie continues to influence the coastal areas of Mexico with high winds and waves, Marie is a category 4 Hurricane but expected to downgrade to a tropical Storm as it continues to move Northwest away from land. Over in the Atlantic we have a Hurricane named Cristobal that is a category 1 storm. Cristobal is expected to pass North west of Bermuda tomorrow. The storm is currently 590 miles SW of Bermuda with winds of 75 mph and moving North at 12 mph. There is currently a Tropical Storm Watch for Bermuda. The storm is expected to drop 1-3 inches of winds in the Turks and Caicos islands and Southeast Bahamas. We also look for 2-4 inches for Bermuda. A recent report says the Baby Boomer generation has most of the money to spend and they are traveling and a lot of that travel is to the Caribbean. Well that’s it for now, have a great day and keep checking back.

Monday Updates

August 25, 2014

Good morning everyone, I hope you had a good weekend. Don’t forget if you will be in the Curacao area that they are having their big North Sea Jazz Festival at the end of this week, it always is a good time. Tropical Storm Cristobal continues to push away from the Bahamas, the storm is currently about 750 miles SW of Bermuda with winds of 60 mph. This storm has a good chance of turning into a hurricane but should pose no threat as it should be over the open waters of the Atlantic. Interests in Bermuda should continue to monitor this storm for at least the next couple days. Hurricane Maria is in the Pacific but showing no problems for anyone right now. Be on the lookout for students as they are headed back to school. Well that’s all for now, have a great day everyone.

Friday Updates

August 22, 2014

Good morning and happy Friday everyone. It looks like a busty weekend on the weather front, we have a low pressure moving across the leeward islands providing some gusty winds and heavy rain. Look for these conditions in Puerto Rico, and The Virgin Islands today and then Hispaniola and The Se Bahamas tonight and Saturday. There are three Tropical Storms out in the pacific, none are any threat to land with no watches or warnings but they will still be watched and monitored. Curacao is looking forward to their North Sea Jazz Festival at the end of next week. Have a good weekend everyone.

Good morning everyone, it’s Thursday. I don’t know about you but this week seems to be flying by! Checking your weather this morning we have a disturbance moving toward the Lesser Antillies that whether it develops into something stronger or not will provide gusty winds and heavy rains to portions of the Lesser Antillies, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands tonight and tomorrow. Folks in these regions should continue to monitor this low pressure. This disturbance could be influencing Hispanola on Friday Night and Saturday. Meanwhile in the Pacific we have Tropical Storm Lowell moving away from land. There are no watches or warnings with this storm. There is some controversy developing with womens soccer teams that will play their world cup next year in Canada where they will be playing on turn instead of grass. We will be hearing more on this subject. It will be interesting to see what will happen to future halftime entertainment for the Super Bowl in the US, the NFL now wants the entertainers to pay to perform. Well that’s all for now, have a great day and keep checking back with us.

Tuesday Thoughts

August 19, 2014

Good morning everyone, happy Tuesday. Apparently they has an experimental vaccine for the chicagunda virus spread by mosquitos in the Caribbean that they are working with, the down side is that it probably won’t be available for the public for a couple years. Checking the weather there are a couple things we are watching. In the Atlantic we have a weak area of low pressure about 1000 miles east of the lesser Antillies with some disorganized showers and thunderstorms. We also are watching a Tropical Wave midway between Africa and the Lesser Antillies with disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Both these systems could develop into something more. Over in the Pacific we have a new tropical Storm named Lowell. This storm is located 705 miles WSW of the southern tip of Baja, California with winds of 50 mph and moving WNW at about 7 mph. There are no watches or warnings with this storm. Baseball legend Roberto Clemente would have been 80 years old on Monday. He was tragically killed in an airplane crash while delivering supplies. Well that’s all for now, have a great day everyone and keep checking back.
