I wanted to update you on the activity in the Atlantic, there is a well defined low pressure currently 650 miles East of the Winward Islands. This storm has shown organized showers and thunderstorms over the past hours. The system is moving W-NW at 15-20 mph. Tropical Depression or Tropical Storm advisorys could be issued lated today. I will continue to monitor this situation, however you can get full details on One Caribbean Weather. Looking forward to another day on this beautiful island. Have a good one and keep checking back.

Wednesday Update From Barbados

July 30, 2014

Hey everyone, Bob The Parrot here on the beautiful island of Barbados. Joey and I have been here many times but we love coming back, this is a special place. Beginning tomorrow night and continuing thru Monday we will be broadcasting live from 8-10 pm on One Caribbean Television, all the excitement of the Crop Over Festival. This is the 40th year since the festival was stopped during WW 2 and re started in 1974. We will be broadcasting from the beautiful Accra Beach Hotel and Spa. Joey and I had a good day today, we were out and about the island putting together some pieces to be shown on the show. One other thing I want to mention, there is a low pressure about 1000 miles E of the Leeward Islands trying to get it’s act together, it is worth watching the next couple days. I’m sure they are giving you all the details on One Caribbean Weather but I will try to let you know what’s happening with that. Well that’s all for now, have a great day and keep checking back as we report from Barbados.

Monday Updates

July 28, 2014

Good morning everyone, we hope you had a good weekend. Joey and I will be off to Barbados tomorrow to celebrate and broadcast the Crop Over festival. Don’t forget that Carnival Week begins this Thursday from 8-10 pm on One Caribbean Television. Checking the weather maps this morning we find two areas of concern. In the pacific we have tropical Storm Hernan that is located 360 miles SW of the Southern tip of Baja California. This storm has winds of 70 mph and is moving WNW at 15 mph. There are no watches or warnings issued with this storm and it looks like it is headed toward the open waters and away from land. In the Atlantic we have a Tropical Wave that is causing disorganized clouds and thunderstorms. This system is moving toward the West at 10-15 mph and could show gradual development. Well that’s all for now, have a great day and keep checking back with us.

Good morning everyone, Bob The Parrot here. I hope you have had a great weekend. Joey and I have been monitoring a storm I want to tell you about. This storm has no influence on the Caribbean, it is located in the Pacific ocean and will be of interest to the folks who watch us in Mexico. Tropical Storm Hernan is getting a little stronger and is expected to pass just Southwest of Socorro Island today. The storm is currently located about 580 miles SSW of the southern tip of Baja, California. This storm has winds of 70 mph and is moving to the NW at 15 mph. There are no coastal watches or warnings currently issued with this storm. Well that’s all for now, have a great day and keep checking back. Don’t forget Joey and I are headed to Barbados on Tuesday to report live on One Caribbean Television for the Crop Over festival.

Friday Updates

July 18, 2014

Good morning and T.G.I.F everyone. Bob The Parrot here with my sidekick Joey Stevens. Things are fairly quiet as we move toward another weekend. I am glad to say that it looks like the weather will cooperate, we have no storms on the map and see nothing developing. Good news if you have a smart phone, we have an app for One Caribbean Weather, just go to the app store and type in One Caribbean Weather, it’s free and a very handy tool to have when you are out and about. Two people were killed outside the airport in Curacao yesterday in a drive by shooting. The chickengunya that is spread by mosquitos has spread to the USA with two reported cases in Southern Florida. Another sad story with Malasia Airlines with a p-lane shot down over the Ukraine, more then 280 people died. That story will continue to unfold over the weekend. Good news for Jamaica, major crimes are down on the island. Well that’s all for now, have a great day everyone and a great weekend.

Thursday Thoughts

July 17, 2014

Good morning everyone, Bob The Parrot here with you on a Thursday. Joey and I are busily preparing to head down to Barbados for the annual crop over festival, this will be the island’s 40th event. If I am not mistaken, Antigua is also gearing up for their carnival. This a great time to head to the Caribbean, it isn’t as busy as during the traditional tourist season. A couple reminders for you, first if you have anything going on that you would like to promote for your island just send us an e mail and we will get it to the community calendar and mention it here in this forum. Also, if you don’t get One Caribbean Television in your area, call your local cable provider and ask them if they would please add the channel to your lineup. Speaking of cable, congratulations to FLOW (Columbus Communications) for their new launch on the island of St Lucia. Well that’s it for now, have a great day and keep checking back with us.

Wednesday Update

July 16, 2014

Good morning and happy Wednesday…checking the weather maps this morning, there are no major storms out there to report on. New York Yankee Derrick Jeeter had a good all star game in his final appearance, he went 2 for 2 at bat. The game was won by the American League 5-3. Word from Jamaica of a confirmed case of chicagunda virus that is spread by mosquitos, they say their case is a person who had traveled abroad and brought it back to the island. Don’t forget Barbados will celebrate their crop over festival at the end of the month, Joey and I will be on the island to celebrate and broadcast the event. Don’t forget if you are not currently receiving the One Caribbean Television network, call your cable provider and ask them to add it to your lineup. Have a great day everyone.

Tuesday Thoughts and Updates

July 15, 2014

Good morning friends, Bob The Parrot here. Checking the weather maps this morning we have no major storms out there and see nothing that could possibly develop into something. We will continue to monitor the situation and let you know if anything is developing. You can tell the summer is rolling by, we are at the All Star break in baseball!! Good news for a couple Jamaica sprinters who have had their doping banns cut back, this means they will be able to compete. The Costa Concordia is floating again off the coast of Italy. Did you know Germany is the first team from Europe to win on South America soil? Well that’s all for today, have a great day.

Monday Updates

July 14, 2014

Good morning all, Bob The parrot here, I hope you all had a great weekend. Well we are starting another week and as far as the weather is concerned, everything seems to be all right with no storms or developing storms that we can see. Congratulations to Germany, the 2014 World Cup Champion who defeated Argentina yesterday 1-0 in a very hard fought game. Brazil lost to the Netherlands and ended up taking 4th place which is nothing to be ashamed of. All in all it was a very exciting tournament. Barbados is gearing up for crop over, the street festival will take place at the end of this month. It looks like Cuba and the Soviet Union are trying to re kindle relations with a recent visit from Mr Putin of the Soviet Union. Well that’s all for now, have a great day and keep checking back.
