May 31, 2013

Good morning everyone, Bob The Parrot here, thanks for dropping by. As the old saying goes…TGIF. Joey and I are looking forward to a pretty laid back weekend, we hope it’s a good one for you too. Our friends from Antigua and Barbuda remind us that the Antigua & Barbuda Open Golf Tournament take place in June, you might want to contact them if you are interested. Did I mention that Joey and I are planning on attending Crop Over in Barbados this year!? Hard to believe tomorrow is the first day of June, where do days go? Also June 1st is official beginning of Hurricane Season in Atlantic. For you sports fans, the Miami Heat defeated the Indiana Pacers last night to take a 3-2 lead in that series, the winner will play San Antonio for the championship!! Also want to mention a big event coming up next Wednesday in New York City, “The Invest Caribbean Now” breakfast will take place at the Radisson Martinique Hotel, Kara Coleman from One Caribbean News will be there. The President of China is in Trinidad to talk trade, this is the first visit for a China president. There were two deaths from Hurricane Barbara when she came into Mexico the other day, one was a surfer and another drove into flood waters. Well that’s all for today, keep checking back with us and remember if you have something special happening where you live, drop us a line so we can pass it on to everyone. Have a great weekend everyone.

Thursday Thoughts

May 30, 2013

Good morning everyone, Bob The Parrot here with a few thoughts on this Thursday. I first want to update you on Barbara, she is now a Tropical Depression moving slowly across Mexico with winds of 35 mph and a movement north at 8 mph. There are no watches or warnings with this storm right now. Residents of Mexico should be on the lookout for rainfalls of 6 to 10 inches in some areas with as much as 20 inches in a few spots. Dangerous mud slides and flash floods are also a possibility. Don’t forget the Hurricane Season for the Caribbean begins officially on June 1st and runs through November 30th. Good news for passengers on cruise ships, they now have established a bill of rights (Royal Caribbean and Carnival) which should give some protection for travelers, you might want to look into this further if you are planning a cruise sometime soon. Crew ships are a big part of the travel industry in the Caribbean. Well, that’s it for now, keep checking back and have a great day everyone.

Weather to talk about this morning, Tropical Storm Barbara off the coast of Mexico, 70 south of Salina Cruz, Mexico. Current winds of 65 miles per hour and the storm is moving Northeast a 8 miles per hour. This storm could easily become a Hurricane soon. The government of Mexico has issued a Hurricane Warning from Puerto Angel to Barra De Tonala. Expect rainfall of 4-8 inches with some areas receiving 12 plus inches. Residents in this area should also be on the lookout for Flash Flooding and Mud Slides. Keep checking back for updates and don’t forget you can also get complete storm coverage on One Caribbean Television. Have a great day everyone.

Tuesday Updates

May 28, 2013

Hey everyone, Bob The Parrot here, thanks for checking back. Joey and I are watching a storm off the Mexican coast about 200 miles south of Salina Cruz Mexico. This storm has the potential to become a Tropical Cyclone. Interests on the Southeast Pacific coast should monitor this storm. Heavy rains are likely the next couple days over parts of Mexico and Western Central America. Make sure to watch One Caribbean Television for all the updates. This is also a good time to remind you that if you don’t get One Caribbean Television to contact your cable provider and ask them if they will add it to their lineup. More trouble for the cruise industry, a fire on a Royal Caribbean ship in the Bahamas the other day, nobody was injures, it currently is docked in the Bahamas. US Vice Pres Joe Biden is in Trinidad currently he will be headed to Brazil next. Well, that’s all for now, have a great day everyone and keep checking back.

Memorial Day In US

May 27, 2013

Good morning everyone and Happy Memorial Day to the folks in the US. Joey and I had a very nice weekend, we attended a wedding in Michigan. I was just checking the weather, there are no problems for the Caribbean however there are a couple areas of stormy weather off the Mexican coast in the pacific. US Vice President Joe Biden has begun his journey that will take him to Trinidad and Tobago. The oldest man in the Western Hemisphere recently passed away, he was 113 years old and hailed from the island of Barbados. Speaking of Barbados, Joey and I will be going down for Crop Over this year. Well that’s all for today, keep checking back and have a great day.

Good morning everyone, hope your day is going well and thanks for checking back with us. Joey and I are off to Michigan tomorrow for his sister’s son’s wedding, looking forward to it. Since we won’t be here, want to wish the people of Guyana a Happy Independence Day on Saturday. Sir Richard Branson, singer Bono and actor Matt Dayman has a great project trying to bring fresh water to those in the world who don’t have any, I will try to find out more info and pass it along to you, sounds like a great project. Well, that’s all for now, kind of a slow day on this end. Have a great day everyone.

Mid Week Thoughts

May 22, 2013

Hey good morning everyone, Bob The loveable Parrot here with my sidekick Joey Stevens. Not a whole lot happening today, at least for now it is off to a slow start. We have been going through the process of getting our press credentials for Barbados Crop over coming up the first of August. We are really excited about going because we have been invited many times but have never been there for the carnival. We have however been to Barbados numerous times and love it there. I have had the opportunity to look over about three projections for the upcoming Hurricane Season and everyone seems to think it will be more active then normal….we can only wait and see!! When you see the pictures of the Oklahoma Tornados the other day it is a wonder more people weren’t killed, it was a monster. Well, that’s all for now, please keep checking back and have a wonderful day.

Monday Mumblings

May 20, 2013

Good morning everyone, Bob The Parrot here. Joey and I hope you had a great weekend. Things are fairly quiet this morning, this will be a short week for us since Joey has to go to Michigan on Friday for his sister’s son’s wedding. Weather wise things are fairly quiet, we aren’t far from the official beginning of Hurricane Season on June 1st. Did you hear that there was one winning ticket in the Power Ball Lotto, someone in Florida won nearly 600 million dollars!!! That winner has yet to come forward. Accu- Weather a large forecaster of weather in the US has agreed with some forecasts already out that this will be an above normal season with 8 Hurricanes predicted. The Preakness Horse Race over the weekend was well represented by the Caribbean with jockeys from the US Virgin Islands and The Dominican Republic. The jockey from the US Virgin Islands placed 5th. Don’t forget if you have any events happening in your area send us an email so we can let everyone know. That’s all for now, have a great day everyone.

As Always TGIF….

May 17, 2013

Good morning everyone, Bob The Parrot here with a few comments to end this week. If you weren’t with me yesterday, predictions are showing an active Hurricane Season beginning on June 1st. We were already reporting a Tropical Storm in the Pacific yesterday named Alvin. Some reports I was looking at the other day are painting a rosy picture for travel to the Caribbean in the years ahead. I know you folks in the Caribbean are concerned with Hurricanes, however a number of killer Tornados moved through Texas on Thursday…mother nature shows no favorites!!! For you sports fans, David Beckham, one of the best soccer players currently playing has announced his retirement, he is 38 years old and wants to spend more time with his family. Puebla Mexico continues to be on alert with a large volcano threatening to erupt. Well that’s all for today, Joey and I hope you have a great weekend and please keep checking back.

Thursday Thoughts

May 16, 2013

Hey good morning, Bob The Parrot here. A couple reminders for our friends in Antigua and Barbuda, The Antigua and Barbuda Sports Fishing Tournament will be held May 17-19th with the 3rd Annual Antigua and Barbuda Marlin Classic being held tomorrow May 17th. Joey was telling me the other day that his grandfather caught a record Allison Tuna off the Fort Lauderdale coast of Florida back in 1947…Joey still has the stuffed fish to this day at his house. If you didn’t check in yesterday, predictions for the updcoming Hurricane Season are calling for 18 named Tripical Storms, 9 of those are predicted to become Hurricanes while 4 of those will be major Hurricanes…let’s hope the predictions are wrong!!! That’s it for now, please keep checking back and have a great day.
